Fable Reboot: PS5, Game Pass & No Switch 2 Launch Details

Playground Games recently released a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) for the upcoming reboot of “Fable”, officially answering various key information that the player community is highly concerned about. The highly anticipated role-playing game has been confirmed to be a pure stand-alone experience, and there are currently no plans to launch it on Nintendo’s next-generation console, Switch 2.

In today’s trend of many games adding multiplayer modes and social features, the “Fable” reboot goes in the opposite direction. The official clearly stated in the FAQ that this game is positioned as a “single-player open world action RPG” and the game will not include any multiplayer features.

Regarding supported platforms, the FAQ lists Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and “Game Pass”. Although the PC platform is not specifically named in the article, given that the game is already available on Steam, PC players are expected to be able to play it through Steam or Game Pass. It is worth noting that the FAQ does not mention Switch 2 as a supported platform. According to a recent report, a Switch 2 version is not currently in development plans, but the development team may consider the possibility of a port in the future.

In addition, the FAQ also mentioned that the reboot version of “Fable” will continue the classic series features, including strong British humor that can make “your mother blush”, emphasizing that the game style will be very British cultural. The official also reiterated that this game is not a sequel to the original trilogy produced by the defunct Lionhead Studio, but a new starting point.

The official FAQ states: “While the game we are making is very faithful to the spirit of the Lionhead classic trilogy, Fable is a fresh start for the series rather than a continuation of the original game’s story.”

In terms of subscription services, the FAQ confirmed that the reboot version of “Fable” will be added to Game Pass Ultimate on the first day of launch, but the lower-priced subscription tier of the service will not be playable on the day of launch.

The new “Fable” is expected to be officially released this fall, but the exact date has not yet been announced. This is not the only work of Playground Games this year, its “Forza Horizon 6” is also planned to be launched in May. Unlike “Forza Horizon 6” which will be released on PS5 some time after its launch on Xbox and PC, the “Fable” reboot will be launched on the PS5 platform simultaneously on the first day of release.
