Alonso’s Troubles in Second Free Practice
Fernando Alonso, the veteran Aston Martin driver, experienced a setback during the second free practice session for the Bahrain Grand Prix. The 43-year-old Spaniard encountered a steering issue as he approached a curve, forcing the team to call him back to the pits prematurely. This incident resulted in Alonso finishing the session in 15th place.
McLaren Shows Pace, Verstappen Off the Pace
While Alonso faced challenges, McLaren demonstrated remarkable speed during both practice sessions. Lando Norris topped the charts in the frist free practice, followed by Pierre Gasly of Alpine and Lewis Hamilton driving for Ferrari. however, in the second session, Norris was edged out by his teammate Oscar Piastri, with George Russell of Mercedes securing third place.
Reigning world champion Max Verstappen, driving for Red Bull, finished the second session in seventh place, a significant 0.82 seconds behind Piastri. This performance raises questions about Red Bull’s setup and potential for improvement ahead of qualifying.
