(Poem of love and sea), Op. 19. This performance features a special arrangement by Marina Vidmonts, tailored specifically for this ensemble. This piece was previously performed at the South Kurzeme Festival “Rimbenieks” and at concerts in Edole and rundale castles last year.
Delving into “Poem of Love and Sea”
Chausson’s Poem about Love and Sea
is considered one of his most significant vocal-instrumental works. Dedicated to his friend, Henri Dark, the piece is a profound exploration of love and loss.
It has been created for a very long time and is based on six poems by Morris Bushor, who tells of a romantic one summer love story on the seashore.
Chausson’s music, characterized by its Impressionistic textures and Post-Romantic sensibilities, paints a vivid picture of a love affair that blossoms in the spring and fades with the arrival of autumn. The music mirrors the cycle of nature, reflecting the ephemeral nature of love itself.
