Prime Minister of Ethiopia calls for Renewed Commitment to Christian Values

His Excellency Abiy Ahmed, Prime Minister of Ethiopia, officially opened the congress, acknowledging the Graham family’s lasting impact on global evangelism. Ahmed emphasized the Gospel’s transformative power for individuals and societies, advocating for compassion, dignity, and spiritual renewal. He also noted the decline in Western missions, encouraging reflection and a return to Christian values, while stressing the importance of global partnerships and love in action.

Worship was led by Charity Gayle, whose songs emphasized Jesus and His sacrifice. Speakers emphasized the importance of the Gospel, especially in a world that can be hostile to Christian values.

“Don’t be ashamed of the Gospel. Declare it! Proclaim it! Shout it! There is Holy Spirit-filled power when we preach it,”

Franklin Graham Urges Attendees to Stand Firm on Biblical Truth

Franklin Graham, continuing his father’s legacy, urged attendees to remain steadfast in their commitment to biblical truth. He called for an “army of evangelists-unafraid,unashamed,unapologetic,uncompromising-standing on the Word of God.”

Key themes from Graham’s address included:

  • The Urgency of the Gospel: the message of repentance, the cross, and resurrection is needed now more than ever, and these truths should not be diluted.
  • The State of the World and the Church: as society shifts and biblical truth is challenged, the Church is called to remain steadfast and uncompromising.
  • Bold Proclamation: The Gospel confronts sin and calls for change. Paul’s example of being “unashamed” was highlighted.
  • The Call to evangelize: The Great Commission remains unchanged, and every Christian is called to make disciples.
  • The Cost of Discipleship: Following Jesus requires sacrifice, but the eternal reward is worth it.
  • Prayer and Faithfulness: Prayer is the foundation for effective evangelism.
  • Final Encouragement: Attendees were urged to continue preaching the full Gospel with boldness, to resist societal pressures, and to look forward to Christ’s return.

As the congress continues, the Christian leaders present are unified in their commitment to the Gospel. This gathering is poised to be a pivotal moment for evangelism across Europe.
