The Blue Castle” is my 9th book read by Lucy Maud Montgomery. Like her other books, it is filled with comfort, a warm May evening at sunset.

Initially, I thought that the story was about Valancy’s travels, how after a visit to the doctor she begins to visit all corners of Canada to find that same blue castle, but in reality everything turns out to be much more exciting.

Valancy Stirling was born a dreamy girl into a family of snobs and, unfortunately, it was their opinion that influenced her future life from birth to 29 years. But everything changes when it is during this period of her life that she learns about her fatal fate. There are people around who don’t like her and have health problems.

Luckily, this part of the book was given some atmosphere by moving into the house of Abel, his daughter Sissy, and Valancy’s future companion, Barney.

The book became a thousand times incredible because Valancy became much freer, and allowed herself phrases addressed to the family, which is why for the other Wellingtons she became “Crazy”

She takes care of Sissy and this shows her to be sensitive and humane. In her free time, she reads books by John Foster, is interested in his work and anxiously awaits the release of the next books.

Also, her connection with Barney Snaith is deeper, from ordinary sympathy it develops into true love which is so interesting to read, their connection is emotional, affectionate but without excessive obsession, sincere conversations and support are felt. Just take a look at this:

“- I don’t like it! Girl, you are all in my heart. Like a jewel. Didn’t I promise you that I would never lie? I don’t love you! I love you as much as I can. Heart, soul, thoughts. Every particle of my body and soul trembles from your charm. There is no one in the world for me but you, Valancy.”
