The robbery and murder of Ermanto Usman and his wife occurred on Monday (2/3). When he was found, Ermanto was already dead, covered in blood, while his wife suffered serious injuries and is currently critical in hospital. The perpetrator was arrested by Jatanras Polda Metro Jaya at 18.54, Monday (9/3) yesterday, in Cilincing, North Jakarta.
Reasons for Targeting Ermanto Usman
The police revealed the reason why the robber with the initials S (28) acted at the house of retired JICT employee, Ermanto Usman (65), and killed the victim. The perpetrator acted at the location because Ermanto’s house was large.
“That the perpetrator did not have a specific target. At that time the perpetrator saw that the house was the biggest house, so the perpetrator thought that there he could get quite a lot of objects or goods that the perpetrator was looking for,” said Iman.
The perpetrator acted alone in the early hours of Monday (2/3). Armed with scissors and a crowbar, the perpetrator pried open the window and entered Ermanto Usman’s house.
To the police, the perpetrator admitted to killing Ermanto because he was caught during a theft. The perpetrator hit Ermanto and his wife using a crowbar he was carrying.
“When the female victim turned on the electricity and at that time she met the suspect and the suspect spontaneously hit the crowbar that had previously been used to pry open the window. This was spontaneously used to hit the female victim,” said Iman
“When he hit the female victim, because the bedroom door was open, the suspect saw the male victim sitting down,” he added.
The perpetrator then panicked and immediately attacked Ermanto.
“Because he panicked, the suspect then immediately attacked the male victim who had just woken up and was sitting on the bed,” he added.
