Erigo Robot Table: Innovative Design & Features

by Archynetys Health Desk

The donation of the Erigo equipment intended for the Neurorehabilitation department and made available by Sa.Re (Reggio Emilia healthcare association) was presented yesterday at the Correggio hospital thanks to the generosity of the Ferrari family in memory of the joint ventures Lidosca and Ilca. Erigo is a robotic table that accompanies the verticalisation of bedridden patients. Its use is essential to speed up the intensive rehabilitation process of serious brain injuries acquired after trauma. The early recovery of the upright position is essential for the reduction of organic complications and for the stimulation of brain plasticity. A key role is played by the robotic movement of the lower limbs offered by Erigo through electronically controlled mechanisms. This reduces the risk of encountering the typical problems of moving from a lying position to a standing position, a situation which tends to slow down the rehabilitation of patients who have remained bedridden for a long time. The equipment is used by the San Sebastiano department, equipped with 30 beds dedicated to neurological rehabilitation. Of these, twenty beds are intended for patients who, due to the severity of the brain injury, have faced a coma and have a disorder of consciousness. In 2024, the department hosted 120 patients with acquired brain injury, eighty of whom were in particularly serious conditions, mostly coming from the Reggio Emilia area but also from Modena and Parma.
