American actor Grey’s Anatomy Eric Dane, known as Doctor Glamor in the medical series, is dead, according to information published Thursday February 19 by several American media. He was 53 years old.
In April 2025, he announced that he had been diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a neurological disorder known as Charcot disease. “It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Eric Dane passed away Thursday afternoon, following a courageous fight against ALS”his family said in a statement cited by CBS and other media.
Eric Dane, born in San Francisco, made his television debut in 1991 in an episode of the series Saved by the bell. His significant role in Grey’s Anatomy began in 2006, where he played the attractive surgeon Mark Sloan. He has appeared in 139 episodes through 2021. He also starred in the HBO drama series Euphoriawhere he played Cal Jacobs.
Charcot disease is a neurodegenerative disease that attacks the nerve cells that control the body’s muscles. ALS gradually destroys the nerve cells and connections needed for walking, speaking and breathing. He then got involved in raising awareness about this disease.
