Equal pay for equal work and working hours – We demand an adjustment to the pay for specialist teachers that recognizes the equal value of our work.
Classification in salary group A 13 is a necessary step to ensure justice and fairness in the teaching profession.
Specialist teachers have training in their professional field, further training to become a master, state-certified technician or engineer. They look back on years of professional experience and complete the same preparatory service as student councilors. Nevertheless, they have to work an hour longer per week and earn between €1,000 and €1,400 less per month.
The GEW Hessen demands:
1. Same number of compulsory hours (with and without teaching position) at vocational schools.
2. The entry office in civil service status takes place according to A 11.
3. A probation promotion, which in the long term Salary group A 13, as Final stage of the higher service, transferred.
4. A qualification measure under appropriate conditions to acquire teaching qualifications at vocational schools with subsequent transition to higher service (part-time study with appropriate time off and acceptable teaching commitment).
