Épernay Theater: The Yellow-bellied Ringer & Aÿ Toad Debate

by Archynetys Entertainment Desk

The MJC of Aÿ is meeting on January 16 to discover the new play by La Compagnie Marnaise Tomorrow it will be daytime, between ecological fable and human comedy.

The Marnese company Demain il sera jour will present its new show, Le Sonneur à belly jaune, on Friday January 16 at 8 p.m. at the MJC d’Aÿ. A theater that is both poetic and anchored in contemporary issues, which explores the complex links between human beings and nature.
On stage, a small rural community tries to save a tiny amphibian: the yellow-bellied ringer, a protected species that breeds in the ruts left by logging equipment. Around this fragile creature, scientists, operators, hunters, walkers and naturalists meet. Everyone finds themselves faced with the same question: how to reconcile human activities and the preservation of living things? The show highlights these debates, while questioning the rights that animals and natural entities could have.

Mascot of the Montagne de Reims Natural Park

This reflection particularly resonates with local news: the Montagne de Reims Regional Natural Park has in fact chosen the yellow-bellied bell ringer as its official mascot. Provisionally named Sonnie, this little toad symbolizes the Park’s actions to raise awareness of the protection of a vulnerable species living in puddles, ruts and forest water points. Studied for three years, the animal embodies the delicate coexistence between the exploited forest and the nature to be protected.
