Enskede vs Häcken: Elitettan Promotion Battle

by drbyos

After the club took over Kopparbergs/Göteborg FC’s Swedish champion team, BK Häcken has had two elite teams on the women’s side, one in the Allsvenskan and one in the elite top flight.

Now Enskede IK demands that the Gothenburg club is giving up its place in the top flight. This is because it is considered that even if the business is formally conducted in two associations, they are in practice controlled by the same people and lack independence.

– Such a construction is contrary to the democratic model of sports. Against this background, we believe that BK Häcken is in practice a single association. As it is not permitted for BK Häcken to participate with two teams in both the women’s league and the elite league, we believe that BK Häcken should not be allowed to participate in the Elite League in 2026 and that Enskede IK should, according to the current regulations, be awarded the vacant league place, says Stefan Alvén.

Enskede also believes that Häcken should not be able to have two teams in the Swedish Cup.

The debate about so-called clone associations is in full swing and has been brought up to date with Hammarby TFF, which qualifies for the super league. At the representative body meeting next weekend, Swedish football will vote on whether to present a proposal on how clubs such as HTFF can be liquidated.

Therefore react Häcken’s club manager Marcus Jodin is surprised that Enskede’s report is coming now. He points out in an interview with Expressen that Häcken has had two clubs with different organization numbers since 2021 and that the Swedish Football Association has approved the model.

– We cannot see that SvFF would make any other assessment here and now based on the fact that Enskede raised this issue. However, we agree with the association’s investigation, that the handling of clone associations and second teams needs to be reviewed, says Jodin to the newspaper.
