What was going to be a celebration among friends ended in an alleged million-dollar theft on a farm. According to reports, a group of young people reported on social networks the theft of their items valued at nearly $40 million. The robbery occurred on a property they had rented in the municipality of San Jerónimo, west of Antioquia.
EL COLOMBIANO spoke with one of those affected. According to testimonies, the group of 12 people arrived on Saturday, February 28, at a farm located in the urbanization Vegas de la Lomaa property they had rented through the Fincas VIP company.
According to the story, the place was part of a closed complex, which in theory guaranteed entry controls and greater security for those who planned to spend the night there.

That night the group remained at the farm until dawn. Around 3:00 am, most of them decided to go to sleep in the different rooms of the house. Two hours later the situation began that would end up revealing the robbery.
Around 5:10 am, two of the young women who were sleeping in one of the rooms wrote in the WhatsApp group that who was the guy who was entering the room where they were staying.
Later, the young women got up and noticed the man inside the room. When he realized that they were almost awake, he left the room and claimed that he was “looking for his flip-flops,” then quickly left the room.
After raising the alarm, all the guests came out and started searching the house. The group discovered that several objects were missing.
“When I got up I practically didn’t find anything I had brought. They left me alone with a pair of wet shorts,” said the affected person.
What did the thieves take?
After the count, among the stolen items were several high-end cell phones. Some AirPods, accessories and luxury clothing items also disappeared.
One of the young women also reported that the criminals checked the interior of the truck in which she had arrived at the farm, and “barely” left her a civic card.
According to those affected, the total value of what was stolen would exceed $40 million.

Key clue: an adjoining lot without a fence
After discovering the theft, the young people began to check the surroundings of the property and found a detail that caught their attention.
According to the affected person, next to the property where they were staying there was a lot that connected directly to the farm and this in turn apparently led to the highway that crosses the area. Right in that area they found some belongings lying around that the criminals discarded in their escape.
In addition, the property had a direct connection with another adjacent property that would not have suffered theft.
“The cameras that didn’t work” and other excuses
Those affected then looked for the place’s butler to ask him how the criminals’ entry had been possible.
The affected person reported that initially the worker assured that the farm had security cameras. However, when they asked him to review them, he said that the owner was not in the country and that authorization from the Police was needed to access the recordings.
When the uniformed officers arrived at the scene on Sunday morning and stated that there was no problem in reviewing the videos, the version changed again.
“Then he said that the cameras were not working, that they were turned off,” explained the affected person.
Later, according to the victims, the owners and the intermediary company indicated that the cameras had been deactivated for “privacy” reasons at the request of previous guests.
However, the young people claim that they never asked to turn off the devices and that, on the contrary, they preferred them to be on for safety. In addition, they affirm that the cameras were located only in external areas of the property, such as the entrance gate, which, if they had been on, would have provided key information about the criminals.
Complaints and claims
After what happened, each of the victims filed complaints with the Prosecutor’s Office and are currently evaluating possible legal actions with lawyers against the company Fincas VIP.
The affected person also assured that he tried to expose what happened on social networks by commenting on Fincas VIP publications, however, he affirms that he was blocked shortly after publishing his story. According to the person affected, he was also blocked from the profile of the company owner.
“They say they are accompanying the process, but they have never contacted us to help us,” he stated.
This newspaper contacted the company Fincas VIP to find out its position. From the WhatsApp line they sent an email. A series of concerns were left there, but at the time of going to press no response had been issued from the company.
Meanwhile, the case continues in the hands of the authorities, and the victims hope that the investigations will clarify who and how they entered the farm and, hopefully, recover part of what was stolen.
