This is what is called a lucrative operation. The sulphurous boss of Tesla, Elon Musk, already immensely rich, has just seen his estimated fortune increase by 149 billion dollars in just a few days. Quite a nice added value, knowing that it could further increase significantly in the coming weeks.
In Forbes’ real-time rankings just a few days ago, the richest man in the world had barely passed the already dizzying $600 billion mark. But two recent news stories have caused the counters to explode.
First on the side of Space X, the famous space conquest company which still hopes to become the first to send a man to Mars. Its capitalization soared after the company authorized the sale of shares, pushing its market value to more than $800 billion. However, Musk holds 42% of the shares. Which corresponds to 336 billion dollars.
A dispute dating from 2018 finally settled
Then, Donald Trump’s former right-hand man has just won a legal victory concerning a block of Tesla shares in which he holds 12%, for a value of $197 billion.
With the recent legal ruling, Musk would actually own an additional 304 million Tesla shares. This is remuneration which was granted to him in 2018 but which had been contested in court. These stocks, which were worth more than $50 billion in 2018, are now estimated at $146 billion.

Musk, who had “only” $25 billion five years ago, is now nearly three times richer than the second person on Forbes’ billionaires list, Larry Page, the Google co-founder whose fortune is estimated at around $253 billion.
Now, Elon Musk’s personal fortune is estimated at around $749 billion. Or 636 billion euros. Elon Musk is now richer than the gross domestic product of Belgium!
