Elon Musk has publicly condemned a recent spending bill, calling it a “disgusting abomination.” This criticism comes after Donald Trump left his job. Musk didn’t hold back his feelings regarding the bill.

Musk took to X to express his strong disapproval to his followers: “I’m sorry, but I just can’t stand it anymore. This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination. Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it.” these remarks followed an earlier interview where he stated he was “disappointed to see the massive spending bill,frankly,which increases the budget deficit,not just decreases it,and undermines the work that the DOGE team is doing. I think a bill can be big or it can be lovely, but I don’t know if it can be both.”

Political Divide Over Spending Bill

Hakeem Jeffries responded on X: “The GOP Tax Scam is a disgusting abomination. Truer words have never been spoken.” While both Jeffries and musk share a negative view of the bill, their reasons diverge substantially. Jeffries opposes it due to its cuts to Medicaid and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, which he says disproportionately affect vulnerable populations. Musk, conversely, believes the bill doesn’t go far enough in cutting spending and potentially objects to the elimination of electric vehicle tax credits.

In response to Musk’s comments, White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt stated, “The president already knows where Elon Musk stood on this bill. It doesn’t change the president’s opinion. This is one big beautiful bill.”

Republican Concerns

senator rand Paul also voiced concerns, warning, “Once this bill votes, and this debt ceiling goes through, the debt is owned by the GOP, and there is no more campaigning and saying ‘this is the Democrats.’ It will be owned by the Republicans, and I think that’s a huge mistake.”
