Ferrari chairman John Elkann had a rather harsh speech to the press after another poor weekend for the Formula 1 team.
Both Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton did not finish the race in Brazil. The latter lost a front wing early on and then received a 5-second penalty before the Monegasque’s race ended after a painful collision with Kimi Antonelli. In the sprint, the team’s riders took 5th and 7th place, winning 6 points.
Speaking to Sky Italy and other media outlets after the weekend, Mr Elkann said: “Brazil was a big disappointment. If we look closely at the Formula 1 championship, we can see that our mechanics are winning their title with their performances and everything they did with the quick stops to change tyres.
If we look at the engineers, there is no doubt that the car is better, but the other components are not at the right level.
And it would also be necessary for our riders to concentrate more on racing and talk less, because we still have a very important race ahead of us and finishing in second place is still not impossible.”
