Elizabeth Morrissey: A Life Remembered and Celebrated
On December 24, 2024, Christmas Eve, Elizabeth (Betty) Morrissey passed away peacefully at Cork University Hospital. Surrounded by her loving family and in the care of dedicated hospital staff, Betty’s journey to heaven was marked by comfort and tender love.
A Devoted Mother and Grandmother
Betty was dedicated to her family her entire life. She was the loving wife of the late Anthony (Tony) Morrissey and the cherished mother of Jacinta (Noonan), Richard, Eilís (McGrath), Don, and Teresa (Kirwan). Her joy was deepest when spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A Community Loved and Remembered
Betty’s passing has left her heartbroken daughters, sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren to mourn her loss. She is also sadly missed by her sons-in-law, Tony, Dave, and David; daughters-in-law, Sylvia and Annmarie; extended family; neighbors; and friends. Special mention goes to Breeda, who was particularly close to Betty.
Celebration of Life
The family wishes to invite loved ones to come together and celebrate Betty’s life. Reposing at Coughlan’s Funeral Home on Shandon Street from 1:00 pm on Sunday, December 29, the family will be in attendance with a Rosary service starting at 4:00 pm.
A Requiem Mass will be held on Monday, December 30, at 10:00 am in The North Cathedral. Following the Mass, the funeral procession will take place to St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Kilcully.

In keeping with Betty’s wishes, only family flowers will be accepted. The family kindly asks that any donations be made in lieu to Cork Simon.
