EHC Basel‘s winning streak broken in Chur
After six wins in a row, EHC Basel lost its away game against EHC Chur 0-4.
After a long injury break, Bircher and Huber reported back, while Schaub had to pass.
The disaster began after just 47 seconds when Melnalksnis took the lead from the first shot at the Basel goal. Ramsauer scored the second goal in the evenly balanced first period with a long shot in the power play after the Basel team had survived almost a minute and a half while being twice outnumbered. As the game progressed, the Basel team also had difficulty asserting themselves decisively on offense and defeating the good Neckar in the Chur team’s goal. The Graubünden team proved to be more efficient with Näf, who caught his ex-colleague Henauer between the legs, and with top scorer Frei, who was played well on the blue line and gave the Basel goalie no chance shortly before the end of the game.
The Basel team didn’t have to nibble on the defeat for long. The home game against EHC Visp follows on Sunday at 5:00 p.m. On this “Kids Day”, children under 16 enjoy free entry as well as a free drink and hot dog.
