The Economy of Communion promotes a global meeting in Latin America to celebrate its 35 years
The event will be divided into two phases and will include an immersion in Latin American communities, followed by a conference in Buenos Aires.
The Economy of Communion (EoC) turns 35 in 2026 and has already begun to invite its entire global network to a different celebration, which will be held from May 25th to 30th in Latin America. With the theme “A journey of regeneration – 35 years of Economy of Communion”, the event will bring together participants from different countries for a unique experience of meeting, celebration and engagement.
Unlike traditional formats, the event will be divided into two complementary phases, with the aim of providing a practical experience of the culture of communion, a hallmark of the EoC since its foundation in 1991.
First phase: meeting with local experiences (from 25 to 27 May)
Around 20 local initiatives from Latin America will welcome small groups of participants in the first phase of the event. Small groups will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in local communities rich in culture, experience and relationships, which suffer the consequences of the global economic system and practice the EoC by transforming their economy with lived communion. .
“Our proposal is that each person becomes involved in the daily life of these local initiatives and that, looking at the world from this meeting, they experience the potential for regeneration and transformation that arises through communion and reciprocity,” said Isaías Hernando, coordinator of the international commission of the Economy of Communion.
Participants must arrive in the chosen communities on May 24th.
Second phase: celebration and commitment in Buenos Aires (29 and 30 May)
After immersion in local initiatives, all participants will gather in Buenos Aires for the final phase, which will last a day and a half.
The program, which will be announced shortly, will have a laboratory nature, in which active participation of those present and an intense exchange are expected. “The objective of this day and a half will, of course, be to celebrate the first 35 years of the EoC, but also to commit ourselves to implementing the next steps together to better respond to the challenges of the current economic system and get ever closer to realizing the vocation of the Economy of Communion,” added Hernando.
