Scholarships Awarded for Meritocracy in Catania Ceremony


The Palazzo della Cultura in CATANIA was the venue for the meritocracy scholarship awards ceremony on June 15th. The event, supported by Ecomap and the Italian Tabaccai Federation (FIT), celebrated sixteen young individuals for their academic achievements, highlighting the importance of commitment and passion.

Giusy Basilotta hosted the ceremony, emphasizing the meaning of recognizing sacrifice and determination. “We celebrate not onyl high votes, but stories of sacrifice, determination and heroic choices,” she stated. “In a time when talking about meritocracy it is necessary, rewarding those who commit themselves means to reaffirm a fundamental value”.

key figures including Emilio Cosentino (President Fit), Agata Pistorio (Vice President Fit), and Maurizio Di prima (Ecomap delegate) were present. Emilio Cosentino emphasized FIT’s role in promoting meritocracy, stating, “supporting these young people is a concrete way to return value to the community”.

Agata Pistorio highlighted the Federation’s dedication to nurturing talent and socially responsible initiatives: “rewarding the merit means investing in the future and strengthening the social fabric of our country”. Maurizio Di Prima added that Ecomap’s support extends to projects of collective value: “Training is our bet on tommorow”.

Giuseppe Lombardo, regional deputy of Grande Sicilia, affirmed public institutions’ support for such initiatives, noting, “Investing in training – said Lombardo – means investing in the future of the country. Today we celebrate not only the results achieved, but also the potential that these guys represent”.

Bruno Brucchieri, Councilor for Social Services, was acknowledged for his contributions to the event’s association. provincial councilors Pietro Fede,Nicola La Naia,and Santo Found also participated in the awards presentation.

The scholarships were awarded to students across various educational levels, from middle school to doctoral studies. the ceremony concluded with a quote from Nelson mandela: “Education is the most powerful weapon that can be used to change the world”.
