The dispute revolved around Bolin’s old parents’ home outside Uppsala – a property that the party leader wanted to buy, but where the circumstances surrounding the deal led to a protracted and infected legal process in the public eye.
The deal blew up to a storm.
The dispute with Ebba Busch
A few days after Bolin and Busch signed the deed of sale on August 20, 2020, with a female friend of Busch’s as a witness, he reversed himself and no longer wanted to sell the house. Bolin stated that he had felt pressured to sell. Busch, however, was adamant that the deal was correct.
The big fight was a fact.
In a letter to Busch, he announced that he no longer wanted to sell and considered the agreement void.
The purchase documents indicated that she would pay SEK 3.9 million, and the day after the contract was signed, she also paid the down payment – SEK 390,000.
The conflict escalated and Ebba Busch went to court to get the deal done.
December 18, 2020: Ebba Busch submitted a lawsuit to the Uppsala district court against the pensioner. She requested that the court determine that she had a so-called “better right” to the property.

Ebba Busch admitted gross defamation
During the turbulent period, the KD leader went on the attack in social media against Bolin’s former representative. Her statements led to a report of gross defamation and she was later convicted of the crime by a penalty order in which she confessed and was forced to pay 60,000 in damages to the former representative.
In a post on Facebook, Ebba Busch wrote that she was “in soul and heart” innocent of gross defamation and that she had told the truth.
A few days before the real estate dispute was due to go to a formal court trial in the Uppsala district court, the battle was called off.
On October 11, 2021, Ebba Busch and Esbjörn Bolin signed the settlement. She then took over the house for the original sum. The house has undergone a major facelift and Ebba Busch has moved in.
