The second annual “Happy Easter & Sila CU L’Ovu” event, a vibrant festivity of tradition and community spirit, recently took place in Bagheria. organized by Chiara audia, with support from local teachers, associations, and the Municipality of Bagheria, the festival aimed to foster unity and joy through shared cultural experiences.

Villa Butera Hosts a Day of Festivities and Reflection

Villa Butera served as the central location for the event, drawing a diverse crowd eager to participate in the festivities. Public Education Councilor Antonella Insinga was present, alongside Chiara Audia and Emanuela Di Fatto from the “Further” Association. Di Fatto emphasized the critical role of solidarity and collective action in addressing societal challenges.

Addressing Femicide: A Symbolic Installation

Voluntary mothers and students from the Carducci – gramsci Thorough Institute contributed a poignant installation addressing the issue of femicide. The installation, a tree adorned with images and symbolic creations by the FemBocs collective, served as a powerful visual statement. This initiative aligns with growing global awareness; recent statistics indicate a concerning rise in reported cases of gender-based violence, highlighting the urgent need for continued dialogue and preventative measures.

Councilor Insinga’s Call to Action: Equality Still a Distant Goal

Councilor Insinga participated in discussions surrounding the femicide installation, emphasizing the importance of collaboration, empathy, and commitment in combating gender-based violence. She reflected on the ongoing struggle for gender equality, stating:

This meeting was a reason for reflection and an invitation to the action. It recalled that fighting gender -based violence requires collaboration, empathy and commitment from all of us.
