East Tyrol Avalanche: No Buried Victims in Deployment

by Archynetys News Desk

Matrei in East Tyrol – After the recent series of avalanches in Tyrol, the emergency services were challenged again on Saturday: In the late morning, an avalanche occurred in the Granatspitz group in the municipality of Matrei in East Tyrol.

Since it was initially unclear whether anyone had been buried, the Matrei mountain rescue service with search dogs and the “Martin 4” and “Libelle Tirol” helicopters were alerted. After just a few minutes, however, it was clear that no one had been buried and the operation could be ended.

The control center appeals to be sure to report observations of negative avalanches – releases in which no one is harmed. This is possible via the emergency number 144, the Alpine emergency number 140 or via the SOS EU Alp app.

Significant avalanche danger

The avalanche situation in Tyrol has defused somewhat compared to the past few days, but caution is still advised. In large parts of the country on Saturday there was level 3 of the five-level scale – and therefore “significant” danger. (TT.com)
