A drunk driver crashed his car into a tree. He and his two children, aged eight and ten, who had been sitting in the car, were seriously injured. One of the children was in mortal danger on Sunday, the police said. The 46-year-old driver drove his car off the road in Coesfeld during the night. The car caught fire. Rescue workers took the three seriously injured people to nearby hospitals. The police also ordered a blood sample from the 46-year-old because his breath smelled of alcohol, they said. The L555 road remained closed for several hours between Coesfeld and Osterwick after the accident.
