DKI Health: Prevent Flu & Superflu with PHBS Tips

Jakarta (ANTARA) – The DKI Jakarta Health Service (Dinkes) appealed to the public to implement clean and healthy living habits (PHBS) to prevent transmission of superflu or influenza A H3N2 subclade K.

Head of the DKI Jakarta Health Office, Ani Ruspitawati, when contacted in Jakarta, Sunday, said that implementing clean and healthy living habits such as washing hands with soap, wearing a mask if you are sick, implementing cough etiquette, avoiding touching the facial area, adequate balanced nutritional intake, drinking two liters of water a day, getting enough rest, and exercising regularly.

“Immediately go to a health facility if the complaint continues and be alert for signs of pneumonia and severe pneumonia such as rapid breathing, indrawing of the chest wall, oxygen saturation of less than 92 percent,” said Ani.

Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) through examination results whole genome sequencing (WGS) which was completed on December 25 2025, showed that subclade K was detected since August 2025 through the surveilans sentinel ILI-SARI in various health care facilities.

The Ministry of Health recorded 62 cases of influenza A (H3N2) subclade K spread across eight provinces, with the highest number in East Java, South Kalimantan and West Java.

“The Ministry of Health emphasized that the situation of influenza A(H3N2) subclade K in Indonesia until the end of December 2025 is still under control and does not show an increase in severity (compared to other influenza),” said Ani.

The DKI Health Office noted that influenza A cases have continued to decline in Jakarta, since the peak of cases occurred in October 2025.

“Similarly, cases of ARI and pneumonia in general, based on data available from the Health Office, have continued to decline since the peak of cases occurred in October (2025),” he said.

Data from the DKI Jakarta Health Service records that nationally, cases of influenza-like illnesses (ILI) increased by 74 percent in August 2025, which was dominated by Influenza A, and a similar trend occurred in Jakarta.

As for ISPA, 1,966,308 cases were recorded from January to October 2025, with an increase in the number of cases identified since July 2025.
