DJI’s SkyPixel 10th Annual Photo and Video Contest, themed “Explore Without Limits,” is nearing its end, with submissions closing on Feb. 10, 2025. This is your last chance to showcase your aerial and handheld works and compete with some of the world’s best creators.
Since its launch in November, this year’s contest has seen a flood of entries, ranging from breathtaking landscapes to cultural moments and innovative storytelling projects using DJI’s cutting-edge drones and handheld cameras. One notable addition is the dedicated Handheld Video category, which encourages creators to fuse aerial and ground perspectives for richer visual narratives.
Tree of Life: A Symbol of Resilience
Photographer Wang Hanbing captured this captivating image of a lone poplar tree standing amidst cracked earth. The juxtaposition of the barren ground and the tree’s lush foliage serves as a powerful symbol of resilience. As judge Luke Stackpoole noted, “It’s so simple, yet so powerful. The textures and colors create an incredible visual contrast.”
Icy Circle: A Gateway to Another World
In Iceland’s ice caves, Julia Pylak created a mesmerizing shot that transports viewers to another realm. The lone figure bathed in icy blues highlights both the grandeur and fragility of nature. Chu Weimin, a 2023 World Press Photo Award winner, described the image as “enchanting, with a perfect balance of color and scale.”
Scenes of a Fishing Village: A Poetic Glimpse into Daily Life
Photographer Xing She Cong Cong created this dreamy long-exposure effect by stitching together 30 consecutive shots of a boat gliding through a fishing village in Fujian, China. The smooth, ethereal scene captures the passage of time, earning praise from judge Daniel Kolder, who noted, “The smooth textures and tranquil mood make this a truly poetic piece.”
Kevin Miao’s “Mysterious Altay” video similarly blends stunning aerial footage with intimate ground shots. Captured over Xinjiang’s Altay region, the piece showcases misty rivers, golden sunbeams, and even a rainbow over Beautiful Peak.
