MediaTek has officially launched its latest flagship System on Chip (SoC), the Dimensity 9400+, marking a notable advancement in mobile processing power and artificial intelligence capabilities. According to JC HSU, Senior Vice President at MediaTek, this new chipset is engineered to excel in generative AI and agent-based applications, while simultaneously optimizing power consumption for Large Language Models (LLM).

The Dimensity 9400+ aims to empower developers and manufacturers to create a robust AI request ecosystem, promising enhanced speed and privacy features for end-users. This launch comes at a time when the demand for on-device AI processing is surging, with analysts predicting a 30% increase in AI-capable smartphone sales in the next year alone.

Enhanced Connectivity: Pushing the Boundaries

Beyond AI, the Dimensity 9400+ boasts significant improvements in connectivity. one of the most notable features is the extended Bluetooth range, now capable of maintaining connections between devices up to 10 kilometers apart. This represents a 6.6-fold increase compared to its predecessor, the Dimensity 9400. This extended range could revolutionize applications in IoT, remote sensing, and even emergency communications.

Furthermore, the chipset supports Beidou satellite connections, offering a 33% faster Time To First Fix (TTFF) even without cellular network availability. This is crucial for navigation and location-based services in areas with limited or no cellular coverage. The inclusion of Tri-Band Wi-Fi 7 with five streams and MediaTek’s Xtra Range^TM technology, extending Wi-Fi range by up to 30 meters, ensures seamless and reliable wireless connectivity. The 5G/4G Dual SIM Dual Active (DSDA) capability further enhances connectivity options for users.

Immersive Gaming and Visual experiences

the Dimensity 9400+ integrates the ARM Immortalis-G925 12-core GPU, designed to deliver exceptional visual fidelity for mobile gaming. The inclusion of Micromap Opacity (OMM) technology brings realistic image effects, previously exclusive to personal computers, to the mobile platform. This allows for more detailed textures, realistic lighting, and overall enhanced visual immersion in games.

AI Agent Performance and Growth

The chipset incorporates the NPU 890, which supports a wide range of LLMs across various regions. It also supports Mixture-of-Experts (MOE), Multi-Head Latent Attention (MLA), Multi-token Prediction (MTP), and FP8 inference, resulting in faster reasoning speeds for AI tasks. The Dimensity Agentic AI Engine (DAE) simplifies the process for developers to transform traditional AI applications into sophisticated AI Agent applications.

MediaTek claims that the chipset offers a 20% performance increase for AI agents through speculative decoding+ (SPD+). This improvement translates to faster response times,more efficient task execution,and a more seamless user experience when interacting with AI-powered applications.

Advanced Imaging Capabilities

The MediaTek Imagiq 1090 within the Dimensity 9400+ enables HDR video recording across the entire mobile camera zoom range. The smooth zoom technology ensures seamless transitions when recording moving subjects,while also providing advanced image and audio isolation capabilities. This allows for more professional-quality video capture directly on mobile devices.

Enhanced Gaming with MFRC 2.0+

The Dimensity 9400+ features a new MediaTek Frame Rate Converter 2.0+ (MFRC 2.0+), developed in collaboration with game developers. This technology aims to double the frame rate (FPS) while simultaneously increasing power efficiency by 40% when MFRC is enabled.This results in smoother gameplay, reduced battery drain, and an overall improved gaming experience.

Market Availability
