Digital Scoreboard: Pedestrian Tunnel Time Updates

by Archynetys Economy Desk

Many years ago, in the early two thousand years – in the very center of Ogre city, in the pedestrian section of Brivibas Street, opposite the “Old Pharmacy“, a clock provided by the State Joint Stock Company “Mortgage and Land Bank of Latvia“, which showed the right time for passers -by for about fifteen years. After a loyal service, it was time to give it a new breath, and on August 24, 2018, as part of the Ogre City Festival, the renewed clock was solemnly opened. The idea of restoring the timber was the collective of the company Fazer and was implemented with the support of Ogre Municipality management and specialists, becoming the renovated watch as the “Fazer” gift for Ogre and its residents on the 90th birthday of the city.

However, the watches are also subject to time, and over the years, the Ogre’s favorite clock was physically and aesthetically worn out in the Ogre square, which had been affected by technical problems that failed to eliminate. As a result, the clock was no longer able to fulfill its main task of showing the right time.

As the world and society develops, technologies are also changing. Digital solutions are increasingly preferred, opening up new, wider and more modern opportunities. This summer, screens, or a scoreboard, which includes a versatile range of information in digital format, were placed in the upper part of the pedestrian tunnel entrance. Now the residents of Ogre and its visitors have the opportunity not only to verify the exact time, but also to see current data on the weather and the nearest public transport departure times.
