George Simion, leader of the AUR party in Romania, voiced strong accusations of political persecution during a recent appearance in Orlando, Florida. simion claimed that Romania is under a “dictatorship,” with an unelected president, widespread censorship, manipulated public opinion, and political opponents being targeted.

Simion’s remarks centered on the investigation of businessman vasile pușcaș, whom he described as a friend and supporter. According to Simion, Pușcaș’s home was searched, and he was arrested in a manner reminiscent of actions taken by the “US Democratic Party.” Though, sources indicate that Pușcaș was not arrested or brought in for hearings. Authorities did seize documents during searches related to a misappropriation case involving the businessman, with the investigation ongoing.

In his speech, Simion stated, “Today in the morning when I woke up and checked my phone I saw that the home of one of my friends was searched in the style of Biden in the US, in the style of the US Democratic Party. He is a businessman and a friend. He helped me in elections, and the mainstream press said that he is a criminal, that his home was on the state, and that he was one of his home, and that he was one of his home, and that he was one of his home, Paralel also against the Soros network and against the criminals who now lead Romania and the European Union.”

Simion’s Broader Claims of Political Oppression

Simion went on to paint a picture of widespread political manipulation and control in Romania. He alleged that elections were canceled due to unfavorable results,and a “puppet” president was installed without a proper election. He contrasted this with the democratic traditions of the United Kingdom, where political opponents are not imprisoned or subjected to politically motivated investigations.

“Pretending to be democrats, they use justice as a weapon and arrest the political opponents to silence us.”

“We have the same problem in the whole world. We are talking here about strengthening democracy in your hemisphere and in the whole free world (…) We talk about Romania where we had elections canceled just because they did not like the result.They simply canceled the result without presenting any evidence and installed a president as a puppet, not elected. This is the situation in my country,” Simion added.

He accused his political opponents of using the justice system as a weapon to silence dissent and of controlling the press to manipulate public opinion. “It exercises censorship in what should have been the free world, censorship disguised as moderation,” he said.

Simion concluded his speech by appealing to the United States as a model for defending freedom and democracy.”I am here these days in the USA that was a model for us (gold) to defend freedom, to defend democracy and to tell the largest nation in the world that a friend of mine has been arrested today, and his house has been searched,” Simion stated.

The investigation into Vasile Pușcaș involves allegations of misappropriation. On Thursday, June 5, Bihor prosecutors conducted searches at Pușcaș’s properties and business locations. The operation, coordinated by the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the High court of cassation and Justice and the General Inspectorate of the Romanian Police, involved the seizure of financial and accounting documents.

The activities took place in Baia Mare, Maramureș county, and Satu Mare, Satu Mare county, targeting the headquarters and working points of commercial companies. The investigation is ongoing,focusing on potential offenses of misappropriation with especially serious consequences.
