The World Health Organization has established guidelines as a unified standard for pregnant women’s care

The World Health Organization has issued the first global guidelines for the management of diabetes during pregnancy, a condition that affects 21 million women annually. These guidelines set a uniform global standard for the care of pregnant women with diabetes. The guidelines focus on individualized care and glucose control, regular monitoring and measurement of blood sugar levels, specialized drug therapy, and multidisciplinary care.

The launch of the guidelines coincides with World Diabetes Day 2025, under the slogan “Diabetes across the Lifespan,” as diabetes continues to affect more than 800 million people globally.
