jpnn.comJAKARTA – The trend of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) cases in Jakarta increased at the beginning of 2026, namely 83 cases in the first week, from 69 cases in the 53rd week of 2025.
However, the Head of the DKI Jakarta Health Service, Ani Ruspitawati, said that the increase in dengue fever was not as high when compared to the same period in the previous year, namely January 2025.
The number of dengue fever cases in the DKI area in 2026 until January 19 was recorded at 143 cases.
“This data is of concern to the DKI Jakarta Health Service, especially in the midst of the ongoing rainy season and has the potential to increase the risk of dengue fever transmission,” he said, quoted on Sunday (25/1).
Ani reminded that the risk factors for increasing dengue fever cases during the rainy season include unmanaged waste and certain ornamental plants that can hold water, coupled with high rainfall, resulting in many water reservoirs being formed.
“These conditions can become a breeding ground for the Aedes aegypti mosquito, thereby increasing the mosquito population and the risk of dengue transmission in the community,” he said.
For this reason, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Health Service (Dinkes) together with the Community Health Centers continue to make various efforts to prevent the spread of dengue fever. This includes conducting outreach about the importance of implementing 3M PSN.
3M’s PSN includes eradicating mosquito nests by draining, closing and recycling places that can hold water, either through social media or directly to the public.
