Delta Expands Austin Service wiht New Nonstop Routes

Delta Air Lines is increasing its presence at Austin-bergstrom international Airport with new and expanded flight options.

Delta Air Lines is set to bolster its service from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) with the addition of three new routes starting this November [[3]].

The SkyTeam Alliance carrier will inaugurate nonstop flights from AUS to Denver International Airport (DEN) on Nov.9 [[2]]. Following this, flights to John Glenn Columbus international Airport (CMH) and Kansas City International Airport (MCI) will be added on June 7, 2026. The airline plans to operate all three routes using 76-seat Embraer E175 regional jets.

Delta will also introduce a second daily flight from AUS to San Francisco International Airport (SFO) on April 13, 2026. Furthermore, starting June 7, 2026, two additional flights will be added to Indianapolis International Airport (IND), bringing the total to three daily flights.

These new and expanded services represent DeltaS ongoing effort to establish itself as a leading carrier at AUS. The airport has become highly competitive as the pandemic, with numerous airlines vying for position in the Texas capital.

According to data from aviation analytics firm Cirium, American Airlines substantially increased its capacity from AUS to 3.5 million seats in 2022, doubling its 2019 figures. However, the carrier has since reduced service to approximately 2.1 million seats, a more modest increase of about a fifth since before the pandemic.

delta has adopted a more measured approach in AUS, gradually developing what it considers a “focus city.” By the end of 2025, the airline will offer 2.4 million seats from AUS, marking an 85% increase from 2019, according to Cirium data.

However, both Delta and American remain smaller players at AUS compared to Southwest Airlines, which will operate 6.1 million seats from AUS this year, according to Cirium.

“Delta is building on a strong foundation in Austin and creating more ways for our customers to get where they want to go.”

Paul Baldoni, senior vice president of network planning at Delta, stated that this expansion is “another step in delivering the network, convenience and premium experience that sets Delta apart as Austin’s leading global carrier.”

With these additions, Delta will serve 30 cities nonstop from AUS. Additionally, Delta’s partners Aeromexico, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, and WestJet provide connections from AUS to Mexico City International Airport (MEX), Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport (AMS), and Calgary International Airport (YYC), respectively.

Since 2024,Delta has introduced 14 new routes from AUS,including its exclusive flights to McAllen International Airport (MFE) in the southern Rio Grande Valley of Texas.

Delta will compete with Southwest on all three of its new routes, as well as with Frontier Airlines and United Airlines to DEN, according to Cirium schedules.
