Deion Sanders: Colorado Transfer Portal Message Revealed

by drbyos

The Colorado Buffaloes went 3–9 this season in head coach Deion Sanders’ third year at the helm in Boulder, finishing 1–8 in Big 12 play and second to last in the conference.

Sanders has repeatedly made his commitment to the program clear, and with the offseason now underway, he has already begun assembling next year’s roster. Departures are naturally part of that process, and on Thursday he addressed one of his player’s transfer portal decisions after it was announced on social media.

Colorado kicker Alexander Stoyanovich shared that he plans to enter the portal when it officially opens on Jan. 2, posting a heartfelt message to Sanders and the staff.

“On January 2nd I will officially be in the portal,” Stoyanovich wrote. “To Coach Prime, Shurmur, and Corey, I appreciate everything. @DeionSanders I love you 2 life, Coach. I have nothing but love and respect for you and the coaching staff, and I’m forever grateful for this opportunity.”

A few hours later, Sanders responded with a heartfelt message of his own:

“Proud of u, my man! I pray the last conversation we had won’t be our last. You’re a great kicker & young man. The best is on its way. Love ya 2 Life.”

The 15-day window from Jan. 2 to Jan. 16, when the transfer portal opens, will be crucial for Sanders, as much of Colorado’s roster building will depend on who they can bring in from the portal. The Buffaloes have several needs to address, and Sanders recently spoke about the positions they plan to target.

“You’re going to do what you’re capable of doing to heal some woes that you have, and a lot of that is up front,” Sanders said. “A lot of that is on the defensive side of the ball… We’ve got some youngsters coming in the secondary that I can’t wait to see. So, we know what direction we wanna go, and we’re gonna get there.”
