Deer vs Rabbit & Squirrel: Predator-Prey Capture

[서울=뉴시스] Reporter Kang Se -hoon, intern reporter Lee Jae -won = Bizarre deers that look like black tumors throughout the United States have been captured, raising concerns about wildlife diseases.

According to the British Daily Mail on the 20th (local time), social media all over the United States, including New York, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, has recently posted pictures of deers with bumps from face to legs.

The wildlife management authorities judged the phenomenon as ‘deer skin fiber’ or ‘deer warts‘. This is a disease caused by viruses spreading between deer throughout the United States.

The virus is known to spread mainly through insects that transfer diseases such as mosquitoes and ticks. These pests are expected to see more infections this summer in areas where deer lives, so the media said.

“The papilloma is most often found in late summer and autumn, because the parliamentary species are most often found in late summer and autumn,” he said.
Dr. Christine Mansfield, a Washington wildlife veterinarian, said he could spread the virus if he shared the same food, dragonfly, or area marking tree.
Recently, similar tumors were found in squirrels and rabbits. This summer, the disease belongs to the papillary virus and targets the skin and mucous membranes.

Fortunately, the papillary virus infected with deer, squirrels, and rabbits is ‘species specific’, experts analyzed. It means that there is no fear of transmitted to humans or other animals because the way the virus invades the cells depends on the species.

It is also known that this disease is fatal to animals. As the immune system of the deer defeats the virus, the tumor decreases in a few months and disappears.

However, if the tumor is too big or infected with bacteria, problems may occur such as making it impossible to hide the field of view of the deer.
