This Wednesday, the Supreme Court of Justice confirmed the sentences of the marines responsible for the death of PSP agent Fábio Guerra, which occurred in 2022.

The two convicted defendants, Cláudio Coimbra and Vadym Hrynko, to 17 and 20 years in prison respectively, appealed the decision of the Lisbon Court of Appeal (TRL), which had also confirmed the sentences.

Now, the two marines see the Supreme Court confirm the sentence, according to Correio da Manhã.

For the TRL, at the time, the facts that were validated by the Lisbon Central Criminal Court in a decision dated June 2 last year remained in full.

“It was a pity that the defendants, seeing people who wanted to calm the situation, understood that there were a few more bodies there to be attacked, without having any common sense reaction, which clearly required them to end the aggression. This was not the path chosen by the defendants, a decision that was only up to them to take”, can be read in the ruling.
