If you’ve ever wished you could see Batman, Wonder Woman or Superman inside a Universal theme parkthat wish may be inching closer.
Universal is in early discussions with Warner Bros. Discovery to license DC Comics characters for future attractions, according to Bloomberg—a development that could bring an entirely new lineup of superheroes into Universal’s parks.
The timing is especially interesting because these conversations come just days after Netflix completed its acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery, suddenly putting DC’s long-standing theme-park relationships in a new era and opening the door to partnerships that would’ve seemed unlikely before.

For now, DC characters like Batman and the Justice League appear mostly at Six Flags parks, a deal that’s been around for decades. Those deals have shaped where DC heroes can show up and how they can be used.
But with new ownership and a renewed push to rethink DC’s global footprint, Warner Bros.’ licensing strategy appears to be shifting—and Universal is well-positioned to take advantage.
Fans are especially excited because if these talks turn into a deal, the impact could reshape one of Universal Orlando’s most recognizable lands.
Marvel Super Hero Island at Islands of Adventure—home to The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man and The Incredible Hulk Coaster—still operates under an old licensing contract that predates Disney’s 2009 purchase of Marvel. Universal can keep the land, but it can’t add new Marvel characters or build anything tied to the modern MCU.
A move toward DC would free the resort from those restrictions and give it a chance to completely reimagine the space with characters it can refresh and expand for years to come.
As one Redditor put it, “This would be a game changer…Harry Potter, Nintendo and DC superheroes all in one resort? That IP strength alone is crazy.” Another added, “Gotham in one park, Metropolis across the way in another—right into my veins, please.”
That possibility arrives at a moment when Universal is already in rapid growth mode. Epic Universe just opened this year, with lands based on Nintendo, How to Train Your Dragon and classic Universal Monsters, signaling the company’s focus on large-scale, story-driven worlds.
DC’s universe—which includes Gotham City, Metropolis, iconic villains and decades of fandom—is perfectly in line with its strategy to build out fully immersive, highly themed lands. A new DC-inspired land could deliver everything from next-generation dark rides to environments built around heroes like Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman—some of the most beloved characters in the superhero multiverse.
It’s still far too early to know what this could look like. Universal and Warner Bros. have declined to comment, and any attraction would take years to design and construct. But the fact that these discussions are happening at all—and happening immediately after Warner Bros.’ corporate shift—has theme-park observers paying attention.
