Polish survival horror will get a sequel – during today’s ID@Xbox show announced Darkwood 2. The continuation of the atmospheric work from 2017 is the responsibility of the Ice-Pick Lodge team from Russia (Pathologic series), supported by the original creators from the Acid Wizard studio. The game will be published by Hooded Horse.

Darkwood 2 is a completely new story
The sequel is being created as an independent work that will not require players to know the first game. The title will move the action 10 years forward (to the 1990s) and force us to fight for survival in the deserts of the ancient sea. During the day, we will again collect resources, dangerous exploration (e.g. on board a boat) and create items. At night, we will trust the erected barricades and placed traps, hoping that they will protect us from evil creatures.
W Darkwood 2 There will be new challenges and previously unseen monsters. The local population will also fight against the constantly growing forest. The action will be shown in a top-down perspective, just like the first part.
The long-awaited sequel in the hands of new creators
Despite the warm welcome Darkwoodthe creation of a sequel has been questionable for years. The Polish studio Acid Wizard decided to suspend its activities in 2023 because it was “destructive to personal life”. Ultimately the creators decided to hand over the work to the Ice-Pick Lodge studiolimited to the role of consultants and copyright owners.
Creating a world Darkwood was an extremely demanding and long journey for the team. After such an experience, a person becomes emotionally attached to his job. We know fans have been eagerly waiting for the sequel Darkwood. For years, the idea of giving our child to another studio was unthinkable to us. But when it became clear that working together no longer made sense, we decided that Darkwood it should live oneven if not directly through our work. – revealed Gustaw Stachaszewski, co-founder of Acid Wizard.

Darkwood 2 will appear on Steam and in the Microsoft Store – from the premiere, the production will be available as part of the Game Pass subscription. The title will also receive a Polish localization. It is worth mentioning that currently the first installment can be purchased on the Valve platform at a promotional price (PLN 12.49).
