Danone Formula Recall: Austria & Germany – Safety Alert

by Archynetys World Desk

The Austrian Agency for Health and Food Safety announced that Danone is recalling some batches of infant formula (Aptamil) and (Melomel) in Austria and Germany due to their contamination with a toxic substance.
The toxic substance Cerulide, which can cause nausea and vomiting, was discovered in ingredients from a supplier in China for several infant formula manufacturers, including Nestlé, Danone and Lactalis. The discoveries led to recalls in dozens of countries and raised concerns among parents.
In January, the French consumer goods group withdrew at least three batches of Aptamil infant formula in Germany, in an attempt to contain panic over toxic contamination that began with Nestlé products.
