Emotional Dose: Dancing with the Stars Showcases Dedication Night
On Sunday, February 4, Dancing with the Stars aired an episode filled with tears and heartfelt dedications during a special Imbolc-themed performance. Hosted by RTÉ One, the dedication night saw celebrities use their talents to express gratitude to significant people in their lives, providing a poignant mix of raw emotion and joyful celebration.
Jack Woolley’s Emotional Victory
Leading the pack was taekwondo Olympian Jack Woolley, who clinched top honors with a poignant American smooth dance to Grace. The routine was a tribute to his close friend and fellow Olympian Kellie Harrington. Additionally, he honored his grandfather for his acceptance of Woolley’s partner, Dave. Woolley’s heartfelt and powerful dance earned him a glow of praise from judges and a substantial 38 points.
Woolley’s dance encapsulated not only his friendship with Harrington but also his appreciation for his grandfather’s acceptance. The rivalry between Harrington and Woolley turned to camaraderie after a vicious attack in Dublin. Harrington’s support was crucial, leading to a deeply emotional interaction in the audience. “She’s a friend. I needed plastic surgery … she was the first person that turned out,” Woolley shared.
Judges’ Praise and Call for Tears
The judges, Karen Byrne and Arthur Gourounlian, were effusive in their praise for the performance. “I’m not the better of it,” Karen Byrne confided, while Arthur Gourounlian declared, “J’adore, j’adore, j’adore.” Woolley’s performance was a testament to the power of dance and the strength of human bonds.
Kayleigh Trappe’s Moving Performance
Among the many touching performances was Kayleigh Trappe‘s emotional jive to Apollo by Jason Derulo. Her dedication to her son was palpable, merging music with motherly love. Trappe’s performance resonated with the audience, despite not securing a top score.
Kevin Dundon’s Bowie-Inspired Tango
Another standout performance was delivered by Kevin Dundon, who danced a David Bowie-inspired tango with his partner, Rebecca Scott. Although it placed last with 22 points, Dundon’s dedication to his late mother brought many to tears.
Rhys McClenaghan’s Impressive Routine
Gold medal-winning gymnast Rhys McClenaghan performed a musical journey set to Gold Dust by DJ Fresh. The routine included a cheeky moonwalk infused with Irish charm. McClenaghan’s dedication to his family brought smiles and admiration from the judges, securing him second place with 31 points.
