U.S. Charges 16 Individuals in Connection with DanaBot Malware Scheme
WASHINGTON – Federal authorities have unsealed criminal charges against 16 individuals accused of involvement in the operation and distribution of Danabot, a notorious facts-stealing malware strain active on Russian cybercrime forums as 2018. According to the FBI, a more recent iteration of DanaBot was deployed for espionage purposes.Furthermore, several defendants reportedly exposed their identities after inadvertently infecting their own computers with the malware.
