Daegu Baseball Ticket Fraud: Macro Scheme Suspect Arrested

The Daegu Police Agency Cyber ​​Crime Investigation Unit announced on the 10th that it had sent Mr. A (30s), who illegally sold 1,374 professional baseball tickets (worth 56 million won) using a macro program, to the prosecution on charges of violating the National Sports Promotion Act.

According to the police, from mid-March to mid-October of this year, Mr. A is suspected of accessing a ticket reservation site using the accounts of five people, including himself and his family and friends, purchasing tickets in bulk using a macro program, and then selling them on a ticket trading site for up to 800% more than the regular price.

In particular, it was confirmed that four tickets to the Samsung Lions opening game were sold illegally a total of 439 times, including reserving them for 36,000 won and selling them for 280,000 won.

As the sale and purchase of ticket tickets increased due to the rise in the popularity of professional baseball, the police intensively analyzed cases of suspected macro use and arrested Mr. A after proving his criminal charges.

A Daegu police official emphasized, “We plan to continuously crack down on the act of purchasing and then selling tickets for popular sports games and performances in bulk with macros,” and added, “We will do our best to create a healthy viewing culture.”

Meanwhile, according to Article 48 of the National Sports Promotion Act, illegally selling admission tickets using a macro program is subject to imprisonment of up to one year or a fine of up to 10 million won.
