The football players of San Marino, a state comparable in size and population to Karvina, arrived in the Silesian city. In the FIFA rankings, this team is ranked last (210th).
The football dwarf has been waiting for a victory for almost a year. The last time San Marino was successful at Liechtenstein in the Nations League, they won 3:1. Since then, they have recorded nine defeats. The loss at the beginning of October was big, when the Austrians scored ten goals at home and put ten goals against their opponents.
San Marino traveled to Karviná with the aim of not losing. He knows that the Czech team is a very strong favorite. “I don’t intend to make any major changes to the lineup, but the players know that I will need everyone if needed,” coach Robert Cevoli told a news conference.
After the defeats against Austria and Cyprus, the coach expects some patience. “We have to trust this team. The boys need time to grow. The Czech Republic has a physically strong team and we know the players who play in the Italian league well,” he added.
