The Czech Republic U-21 national team is embarking on a new chapter in Uherské Hradiště. Following the summer’s European Championship in Germany, Jan Suchopárek‘s four-year tenure concluded. “I was in my head that the change would come to me and it just had to come to it. There wasn’t a role if we would advance to the European Championship. it is not so important to come to the team in time, but know when it is time to leave,” he stated previously.

Michal Bílek will now lead the “lion cubs,” marking his first coaching role as Victoria Pilsen in June 2023. Bílek expressed enthusiasm: “I was a bit out of the energy I had before. At the same time,he did not hide the ambitions for the future: “I have experienced something in football,as a player and as a coach. (…) What I miss is to play at the European Championship with the twenty. That’s the great motivation.”

With assistance from Marek Bakoš and Jan Kameník, Bílek aims to build a largely new team. Ondřej Kricfaluši, with eleven starts for the U-21 squad, is the most experienced player in the September selection. Talented striker Yannick Eduardo,originally from northern bohemia and currently with Leipzig,chose to represent the Czech Republic over the Netherlands.

“I have most of my family here. We are celebrating every Christmas with her in Kadaň.Now I could be more often in the Czech Republic thanks to the depiction,” said Eduardo in an interview with iSport. Regarding his national team choice, he added: “It is a good opportunity for me to show up. Of course I feel that there is a simpler way to the first team then in the Netherlands, which is in the ranking higher.I was considering this thing. I spoke to the IS agent. The Czech Republic wanted me more than the Netherlands.”
