Czech EXPO 2025 Song: Children’s Anthem Revealed

Czech Children’s Music Project to Represent Nation at Osaka Expo

Harmonizing Education and Entertainment: Karol and Kvído’s Expo Mission

The children’s musical duo, Karol and Kvído, are set to represent the Czech Republic at the upcoming World Expo in Osaka, Japan, beginning April 13th. Their mission: to engage young minds with the wonders of global innovation through the power of music. The project, which began in 2020, aims to make the Expo’s themes accessible and exciting for children worldwide.

Behind the Music: A Collaboration of Creative Minds

The song, titled “René and Karol are going to Expo,” is a collaborative effort. The music was composed by Jacob Růžička, while the lyrics were penned by Karolína Neuvirthová Gudas and Tomáš Dvořák. The song cleverly incorporates the names of renowned scientists and their groundbreaking inventions, aiming to subtly educate children about the history of innovation.

Making the Abstract Concrete: Connecting Inventions to the Expo

Karolína Neuvirthová Gudas, the singer behind Karol and a celebrated stage performer, explained the project’s core concept:

We wondered how to best tell the children what Expo is. We thought of doing it through the inventions they know. Every child knows the phone, dishwasher, Eiffel Tower and more, but few know that Eiffelovka was built for EXPO in Paris and the dishwasher was first introduced at the Expo.

This approach seeks to bridge the gap between abstract concepts like “world exhibitions” and tangible objects familiar to children. As an example, the Eiffel Tower, a global icon, was originally constructed for the 1889 paris Expo. Similarly, early versions of the dishwasher were showcased at past Expos, highlighting the event’s role in introducing groundbreaking technologies to the world. According to the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), Expos have historically served as platforms for showcasing technological advancements and fostering international collaboration.

Live Performance and Character Dynamics

Karol and Kvído are scheduled to perform the song live at the Czech National Pavilion in Osaka. The duo consists of Neuvirthová as Karol, and Kvído, a fairytale character who embodies the perspective of children, constantly questioning and learning about the human world. This dynamic is designed to make the learning experience interactive and engaging for young audiences.

The Power of music in Education: A Growing Trend

The use of music in education is gaining traction globally. Studies have shown that music can enhance memory, improve cognitive skills, and foster a more positive learning environment. Karol and Kvído’s project aligns with this trend, leveraging the power of music to make complex topics more accessible and enjoyable for children. This innovative approach could serve as a model for future educational initiatives at international events.
