As late last year, Battswap has been actively testing its technology in the Czech Republic. Approximately 20 Battswap-equipped vehicles are currently being utilized by Rohlík.cz, a prominent online grocery delivery service, in Prague.These vehicles have collectively traveled tens of thousands of kilometers, providing valuable data and demonstrating the viability of the battery swapping system in a demanding, real-world surroundings.

This efficiency stems from the elimination of lengthy charging times, a major obstacle for businesses seeking to electrify their vehicle fleets.

how Battswap Technology Works: A Streamlined Battery Replacement Process

Battswap’s technology directly addresses two key concerns associated with electric vehicles: charging duration and energy availability. Rather of relying on conventional charging methods that can keep vehicles out of service for extended periods, Battswap offers a rapid battery replacement system. The automated battery replacement station, roughly the size of a shipping container, houses a battery charging storage unit and a low ramp. Drivers simply position their vehicle on the ramp, press a button, and a robot swiftly swaps the depleted battery for a fully charged one.

Classic charging, which for a longer period of time withdraws the electric car, is replaced by the replacement of the battery.The automated battery replacement station has a shipping container dimensions and consists of a battery charging storage and the low ramp on which the driver starts, pressing the button, and the robot will replace the battery with a charged battery.

Reduced Infrastructure Demands and Scalability

A significant advantage of the Battswap system is its lower power requirements compared to standard fast-charging stations. Battswap charging stations require only a tenth of the power supply needed for standard swift chargers, which allows fleets to increase the number of electric vehicles without needless investment.This reduced infrastructure demand makes it easier and more cost-effective for businesses to adopt electric vehicles on a larger scale. Each station can handle over 100 battery swaps daily under normal operating conditions, supporting a fleet of up to 20 specialized electric vehicles. The batteries themselves are compact, with a 25 kWh capacity, providing an estimated range of 120 kilometers per swap.

Beyond Retrofitting: A Purpose-Built EV Ecosystem

While battery swapping technology has existed previously, Battswap aims to improve it so that its use had economic sense and ideal for company cars designed for delivery of consignments or for urban technical services. Initially,Battswap considered modifying existing vehicles,but testing revealed that developing purpose-built EVs optimized for the battery swapping system would be more beneficial in the long run. No modifications,but an electric car designed for our exchange stations directly from the production,with guaranteed warranty and service. We have full control over the entire ecosystem that we have been able to optimize and now lead everything to the real operation and line production phase, Janků explained.
