Veteran infielder Hwang Jae-kyun, age 38, is currently on a remarkable hitting streak, amassing eight hits over two games and boosting the KT Wiz.

On May 24th, HWANG Jae-kyun, playing first base and leading off against Gocheok Kiwoom, powered his team to a 10-4 victory with a stellar performance of four hits and one RBI in five at-bats. He began the game with a clean hit to left field. His second and third at-bats resulted in a double and a home run, respectively. He added another left-field hit in his sixth at-bat. The previous day, HWANG Jae-kyun had already impressed with four hits in five at-bats, totaling seven consecutive hits before his final at-bat.

Kiwoom’s right fielder, RUBEN Cardines, nearly witnessed HWANG Jae-kyun achieve a rare feat. Had the ball been hit to right field, HWANG could have attempted to reach third base and aim for a “Hit Forder Cycling Hit.”

After the game, HWANG Jae-kyun humorously remarked, “If the ball was missing and ran forced, the hamstring would have burst.” HWANG Jae-kyun, who had struggled with a batting average in the .200s untill last month,has considerably improved his season average to 0.315, boasting a May average exceeding 0.400. His OPS has also climbed to 0.785, nearing 0.8. He has achieved multi-hit games in seven of his 11 consecutive games since facing Samsung on May 13th.

HWANG Jae-kyun credited Yuhan-jun for his recent success, stating, “Yuhan -jun’s swinging should be started quickly from the hind legs, but he told me to pay attention to it, but as then, multi -hit is coming out and the condition is continuing. “When it’s not good, it’s good to give a lot of feedback.”

Last season, HWANG Jae-kyun experienced a slump with a batting average of 0.260. KT’s offense exploded for 10 runs on 13 hits, highlighted by HWANG Jae-kyun’s four hits. KANG Baek-ho contributed three hits, including a home run, while AHN Hyun-min added two hits, including a triple and a double.

Despite matching KT with 13 hits, kiwoom failed to capitalize on their opportunities. They suffered their sixth consecutive loss, reaching 40 losses (14 wins) in 54 games. The team’s performance is among the worst in the league.
