The best-of-three Wild Card Series began Tuesday night at Wrigley Field with a 3-1 Chicago Cubs win (box score) over the San Diego Padres at Wrigley Field. The Padres got even on Wednesday, which forces a do-or-die Game 3.
Both the Cubs and Padres were the second-place finishers in their divisions (NL Central and NL West, respectively), hence their wild card positions. The winner of this Wild Card Series will advance to take on the Milwaukee Brewersthe National League’s No. 1 seed.
