The organizations representing CTT workers and retirees called, for this Saturday, a day of struggle in defense of the IOS – Institute of Social Works, which is under attack from the administration, with increased costs for the beneficiaries.
The protest arises because of the increase in the monthly fee, on the one hand, and on the other, the reduction in contributions for medical procedures carried out by health plan subscribers. “The value of the salary increases, agreed since last January, is nullified, either due to the worsening of the cost of living, or the increase in contributions to the Institute of Social Works (IOS) of CTT, as well as the cuts in contributions for medical procedures, hospitalizations and surgeries”, he explained.
The Workers’ Committee speaks of a decision that was “unilateral and revealing the arrogance and lack of social sensitivity” that guided “from the first hour, on the company’s part, the sessions with the negotiators over the course of another four months with the Workers’ Representative Structures (ERT’s), which ended in December 2023. On that occasion, on Christmas Eve, postmen went on an eight-day strike called by SICTTEXPT – Independent Union of Postal Services, Telecommunications, Transport and Express of Portugal.
