After several weeks of uncertainty and working in the shadows, Ismaël Bennacer finally sees the end of the tunnel. The Algerian international midfielder has officially resumed training with Dinamo Zagreb, marking a decisive step in his return to competition.
Slowed down by a muscular injury to the thigh contracted after his return from CAN 2025, Bennacer had to put his season on hold. Keen to optimize his recovery, the player went through the Aspetar medical center in Doha, in coordination with his club and the Algerian Federation. A strong decision which allowed him to gain precious time in his rehabilitation.
Back in Croatia, the former AC Milan player began the second phase of his program:
that of progressive collective work. If he will not be fielded in the next matches, notably in the Croatian Cup and for the derby against Hajduk Split, the medical staff remains optimistic about an imminent reappearance, possibly in mid-March.
This recovery, however, comes in a delicate context for the selection. As the March internship approaches, the coach
Vladimir Petkovic
should err on the side of caution. The objective remains to avoid any relapse and allow Bennacer to gradually find his rhythm with his club.
Because beyond the simple return, it is a real race against time which begins for the midfielder. Competition is tough in the national team, and each absence weighs in the balance, especially before a World Cup which is fast approaching. But if his body finally leaves him alone, Bennacer has the weapons to once again become an essential link in the Greens. It now remains to transform this recovery into a lasting return to the highest level.
Ismaël Bennacer continues his recovery from the last leg injury sustained against Osijek
He partially rehabilitated in Doha, and upon his return to Zagreb it is expected that he will again compete for the team after the meeting with Hajduk.
