COVID-19 Winter Vaccine Boosters | Stay Protected 2023-2024

  • The Sonora Health Secretariat invited the population to reinforce vaccination against Covid-19 during the winter season, as it is one of the most effective measures to prevent serious complications, especially in people at higher risk.

The agency reported that the Covid-19 vaccine is indicated for people five years old and older, adults over 60 years old, medical and nursing personnel, pregnant women, as well as people between five and 59 years old who live with risk factors. The application is free and can be done at any health center.

For pregnant women, the dose should be given with an interval of six months. For the rest of the groups, vaccination is recommended 12 months after the last dose received, regardless of the brand of biological applied previously.

During this season, it is especially important that the most vulnerable groups be vaccinated, such as girls and boys under five years of age, adults over 65 years of age, pregnant women, and people living with HIV or a compromised immune system.

In addition to vaccination, the Ministry of Health recommended dressing appropriately before leaving home and avoiding sudden changes in temperature. The use of thermal clothing, jacket, hat, scarf and, if necessary, face mask, contributes to the prevention of respiratory diseases.

Finally, the population was urged to stay hydrated, consume fruits and vegetables rich in vitamin C and go to a doctor for symptoms such as fever, sore throat, fatigue or muscle pain. Avoiding self-medication and receiving timely care is essential for health care.
