After pandemic-related delays, the Dubai Creek Tower project is back on track, potentially challenging the Burj Khalifa‘s height.
the aspiring Dubai Creek Tower project is set to resume, with the goal of creating a skyscraper that could rival, or even surpass, the iconic Burj Khalifa in height. Originally conceived in 2016,the Dubai Creek Tower was designed to reach a staggering 1310.64 meters, dwarfing the Burj Khalifa’s 829.66 meters.
The project, with an initial investment of US $1 billion, faced important setbacks due to the Covid-19 pandemic, leading to its postponement and leaving behind only a foundation hole.

Now, Emaar Properties is ready to breathe new life into the project, allocating US $3.81 billion for the development of the Dubai Creek Tower and an adjacent mall, according to Zawya. The initial plans included 20 floors, luxury hotels, restaurants, and a “Taman Langit” (sky garden).
Though, the Economic times reports that a redesign may result in a reduced height for the Dubai Creek Tower. While an official announcement is pending, the revived project promises to reshape Dubai’s skyline.
Dubai is already home to numerous world-renowned skyscrapers,with the Burj Khalifa having held the title of the world’s tallest building as its completion in 2009,surpassing Taipei 101 in Taiwan.
Meanwhile, in Saudi Arabia, the Jeddah Tower project aims to construct a kilometer-high skyscraper to rival the Burj Khalifa. Construction of the Jeddah Tower has also faced delays,including the arrest of key figures in 2017 and disruptions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. The completion of the jeddah Tower is now anticipated towards the end of this decade.
